DANNY PATTERSON'S
BIO
(up to 2016)
Born in 1975

Around the age of 8 started playing a tambourine with a drumstick in church.

1985/1986, a friend brought in a 10 piece vintage (1970's) Gretsch kit for him to play at church.

1987, Danny's parents bought him a Pearl Export Drum kit.

In 7th grade, joined the school band (was placed in the 6th grade band, as he could not read music)

The following year, he moved up to the 8th grade band and was in the Houston All City Band.

By Danny's freshman year in high school he was playing in Gospel In Song playing drum solos nightly.

While in high school, Danny learned to play all the percussion instruments.

Studied drums at McNeese University during their high school marching camp & placed 1st in drumline.

During his senior year, became drum captain and placed 1st in the UIL solo snare drum competiton.

While high school, Danny taught himself how to play the bass guitar & his Dad showed him some guitar

c
hords. Around this time, Danny started teaching drums (one of the students was twice his age).

1993, played his first solo gig fronting a 3 piece band with Danny as the sole guitarist and vocalist.

1995, competed in the Guitar Center National Drum Off:
Placed 1st in North Houston and was among the top 8 drummers in the state of Texas at the State Finals.

1997, played on his first studio recording, with recording artist Ron Hathaway; the album did get some

local radio airplay.

1998, did some studio work the band Next Level and was part of the band for live gigs as well.
During that year, Danny taught himself how to play the mandolin.

2000, Gospel In Song (GIS), was playing quite a few acoustic shows so he bought a resonator guitar to
change things up some from just playing acoustic & mandolin at these gigs.

2002, GIS recorded its' debut CD,
Look To The Clouds.  Danny played numerous instruments on this
album and played all the instruments on the final track. The album got radio airplay in Hardy, AR as well
as Carthage, TX.  The same year, Danny taught himself how to play the lap steel and the mountain
dulcimer.

2004, GIS released it's second CD,
Gospel In Song Too.  The title was something Danny came up with
so the word "too" had a double meaning; as in the #2 or the band's second album.
The band also released a fan club CD of Christmas Songs.

During the sessions for the second GIS CD.  Danny had to record tracks for "Just A Little Talk With
Jesus" for his Dad, as it came out his Dad thought it was too fast so after listening to it more Danny
worked on more songs and as a result, released his solo CD,
Nobody's Fault But Mine in 2005.

From 2006 to 2008, Danny started to promote his solo CD with a series of live shows at local venues
around Houston, TX.  Many of these shows were at The Next Door Coffeehouse and at Gallery 19.
In 2006, Danny bought his first Gretsch drum kit, to get that sound he loved years before.

In 2008, Danny was asked to play drums at a church in Spring, TX.  Danny went and auditioned and got
the drum position.  During his time there, he performed on a live CD and DVD recorded at the church
titled,
aLive.

In early 2010, Danny married his high school sweetheart and moved to another part of town and while in
the process of moving felt it was time to move to another church as well.  The move happened in June of
2010 when Danny auditioned for the drum position at a church in Pearland, TX.
On October 9, performed with the rest of the worship team and released a CD/DVD titled,
Reflections.

January 2011, Danny joined the oldies dance band, Johnny and The Spinsations.
