Danny Patterson's music
"As a musician and live music reviewer for a weekly in New York, I wrote about and performed with some fine musicians.  Consequently, I have enjoyed the same experience with singer/songwriter Danny Patterson.  His solo performance at The Next Door Coffeehouse, (Houston, TX) in the summer of 2006, was riveting.  He has a laid-back, country-boy vibe, steeped in The Blues and Gospel influences, with a sharp edge.  I like his treatment of Old Time Acoustic Blues interpreted on a "resonator" guitar as well as his own material.
On a more fun note, Danny sat in with me at an outdoor jam at Gallery 19 in the Heights area of Houston last summer, for an impromptu treatment of
'Still In The Game,' by Blues man Tinsley Ellis.  What a joy to play with an accomplished electric soloist on the spur of the moment.
In short, Danny Patterson, and his music, are worth a listen."

"Danny's music has always been played around highly imaginative lyrics and sounds (
When I Read The Red Writing, for example); then the mixing and mastering are all put together as a professional package that is second to none!  All of it stands right up as blusey and often classic-rockin', well composed rhythm backgrounds that are 'southern-as-southern can get' and is a gift to the rest of the country.  I think Mark Knopfler and the Allman Brothers as well as Lynyrd Skynyrd, when I hear 2005's, Nobody's Fault But Mine album.  Danny is proficient with every instrument but I do especially love the drum solo, and the slide guitar work throughout.
Definitely a must for classic rock enthusiasts everywhere!"

"In an industry full of fluff and filler, Danny Patterson's music is the proof that true blues-rock music still exists.  A 'musicians' musician,' Danny immerses himself into every bit of the creative process from writing to producing.  This complete hands-on approach ensures that Danny's sound stays raw, soulful, and true to the spirit of live performance.  The final product can sometimes be likened to the vintage recording days of rock; reminding listeners of a time prior to the over-produced, over-layered, and over-commercialized songs of the contemporary pop era.

Danny's roots are evident in his bluesy riffs and sometimes psychedelic effects.  While the riffs pay homage to such icons as Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton, it's Danny's use of guitar effects that makes one take notice.  Danny's blend of old-school-roots-meets-modern-day-effects if probably best described as 'Jimi Hendrix meets Tom Morello.'

Likely the most outstanding facet of Danny's music, though, is his strict attention to the rhythm section.  Danny's beats thump with a ferociousness and energy that would put a smile on the face of the late John Bonham.  Danny's drum work is the anchor to his sound and a testament to what years of experience and practice can accomplish.

In summation, Danny Patterson's music can be simply described as true."

"I particularly like the diversity ... ranging from straight ahead playing to funk grooving as well as the emotion of Gospel music.  Also showed a lot of dynamic ability in your playing skills"

"At the end we had open stage and I enjoy these as the players and singers just relax and have a good time.  They seem to enjoy it more than when they are serious trying to put on a show.  If you have not been here and listened to Danny Patterson play at these open stages you make it a point to come.  This young man is awesome. Of course he is good with Gospel In Song too.  But Wallisville Country Grass is challangeing him with all these old tunes that half of them he has never heard much less played.  He can do it though."

"Clint and a group came on first.  I won't say Wallisville Country Grass because Clint, Pete and Joy were the only three there.  But they had a lot of good help.  Danny Patterson took the lead guitar and did super.  You know he plays Gospel all the time and doesn't play with old cogars like Clint so he had to really use his unlimited talent to figure them out.  Most of the songs Clint sings and plays were way before Danny's time but he is a trooper and filled in just fine."
